Morning devotion: Read Psalm 111

Psalms 111:1  ¶Praise ye the LORD. I will praise the LORD with my whole heart, in the assembly of the upright, and in the congregation. 2  The works of the LORD are great, sought out of all them that have pleasure therein. 3  His work is honourable and glorious: and his righteousness endureth for ever. 4  He hath made his wonderful works to be remembered: the LORD is gracious and full of compassion. 5  He hath given meat unto them that fear him: he will ever be mindful of his covenant.

The bible is replete with those who have a desire to praise the Lord. Here the Psalmist praise the Lord with his whole heart –  inner man, mind, will, heart, soul, understanding.

Psalm 35:18 I will give thee thanks in the great congregation: I will praise thee among much people.

Ps 89:5 ¶ And the heavens shall praise thy wonders, O LORD: thy faithfulness also in the congregation of the saints.

Ps 109:30 I will greatly praise the LORD with my mouth; yea, I will praise him among the multitude.

Psalm 111: 2  The works of the LORD are great, sought out of all them that have pleasure therein. 3  His work is honourable and glorious: and his righteousness endureth for ever. 4  He hath made his wonderful works to be remembered: the LORD is gracious and full of compassion

DO you have pleasure in the works of God? As we think of all that He has done, do we praise Him?

I spoke with my father-in-law yesterday. He is quarantined after a travel. He praised the Lord, for, his salvation, his wife, garden, children, grandchildren, and his comfortable home.

What can you praise the Lord for today? What are some of the works of the LORD? Take time today to remember the works of the LORD.

John 21:25  And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.

Works of the LORD are sought out of all those who have pleasure in the LORD. Do you have pleasure in the LORD? I do.

I am reminded of my children and even now my grand children do the same. The want to be with and even do the same things as their father. I have a video of my grandson trying to fix a bike because his daddy was fixing a bike. My grandson, at age 3 had no idea what he was doing, but he was enjoying and trying to emulate the works of his father. That is the idea we have here. Those who have pleasure in the LORD, seek out the works of the LORD. The are genuinely interested in the things of God. They want to know and do and be about the things of the LORD. They have pleasure in the LORD. DO you?

Psalm 111: 4  He hath made his wonderful works to be remembered: the LORD is gracious and full of compassion.

There is no greater act of grace and no greater form of compassion then that which the LORD gives to us in His Son the Lord Jesus Christ. Having experienced the grace of the LORD and the compassion of the Lord, we should have no reason not to remember and enjoy and trust Him for the future.

We trusted him for the saving of the soul, we should have no problem trusting Him for our daily and future needs.

Two weeks ago, our granddaughter was born. We spent some time looking at pictures of our children trying to determine if she had any of our son’s characteristics. She did. The search for their pictures brought about a reminiscence of the what God had done in our lives. It takes time to reminisce.

Let me challenge you to do that today, reminisce after the woks of your LORD. Take time to remember and praise the LORD work wonderful works. Psalms 107:8  Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!

Take time to reminisce over God’s graciousness and compassion on you personally. Write them down, read them over and reminisce. God is good.

The choice is still yours,
