Morning devotion: Read Psalm 119

Psalms 119:89  ¶LAMED. For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven. 90  Thy faithfulness is unto all generations: thou hast established the earth, and it abideth. 91  They continue this day according to thine ordinances: for all are thy servants.

God is everlasting. Psalms 90:2  Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.

His throne and dominion are everlasting. Psalms 93:2  Thy throne is established of old: thou art from everlasting.

Thus, His word is everlasting and settled. The word of God will never change, it is settled forever.

God is everlasting, His word is everlasting and settled; that means what God has said is forever set. No amount of influence or manipulation by man can change the heavenly word of God. Man may change the word of God down here on this earth, but in heaven, it is settled. It is settled here on earth as well. Man, just doesn’t know it.

Man can write new bibles, make up new philosophies, form new ideologies, create new edicts and even start new religions, that will not change God nor His word.

The gospel is settled as well. The gospel is the good news of salvation by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and his death burial and resurrection for the dead for you and your sins.

1Peter 1:25  But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

No amount of earthly man-made religion will change what God has spoken and settled in heaven. All will come to pass just as God said.

Matthew 5:18  For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Isaiah 55:11  So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

God said there is only one way to be saved. It is settled in heaven.

Acts 4:10  Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. 11  This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. 12  Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Just as David understood so the Apostles understood the eternal truth of God’s word. They understood the eternal blessing of God’s word for the ages to come. God’s word will never change and will forever be settled.

Just imagine if God changed His word like man does in politics and business, in promises and relationships, in events and happenings of the world; just imagine how unstable and chaotic things would be. We have the only constant there will ever be. We have the only settled thing we will ever need. Stability and hope, confidence and strength are given to us in the wonderful unchanging word of God.

God said in Jeremiah 31:3  “The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.”

Now, imagine if that changed? Aren’t you glad his word is forever settled?

The choice is still yours,
