Morning Devotion: Read Psalm 119

Psalms 119:133  ¶Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me. 134  ¶Deliver me from the oppression of man: so will I keep thy precepts.

Order means to firmly set or establish, to fix one’s steps or direction. God’s word will do exactly that. It will establish our direction.

One’s direction without the word of God is toward sin and death and destruction. With the word of God, man’s direction is forgiveness, salvation and life everlasting in heaven.

David’s plea was for orderly steps in a sin cursed world. He knew the that iniquity was just around the corner waiting to grab him.

Paul said: Romans 7:23  But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. 24  O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?

Romans 6:12  Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. 13  Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. 14  For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

God’s answer is for all of us to have our steps ordered by the Lord yielding ourselves to God through the word of God.

Psalm 32:8  I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.

1Samual 2:9  He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail.

God’s way is the good way, the pleasant way and the safe way to go.

It all comes down to reading and doing the word of God. The knowing is the result of reading, while the blessing is the result of doing. You may know the right way and never do the right way. The blessing is in the doing.

Psalms 119:133  ¶Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me. 134  ¶Deliver me from the oppression of man: so will I keep thy precepts.

Psalm 19:13  Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.

The choice is still yours,
