Morning devotion: Read Psalm 119

Psalms 119:137  ¶TZADDI. Righteous art thou, O LORD, and upright are thy judgments. 138  Thy testimonies that thou hast commanded are righteous and very faithful.

The letter TZADDI corresponds to our letter “P” which stands for purity. Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God, (Matthew 5:8)

David in the purity of heart and soul said “Righteous art thou, O Lord” God is righteous in all He does.

God is righteous in grace, and mercy, and love and judgment and wrath. While man may not think so, God is still righteous.

Psalms 19:9  The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.

Righteous art thou, O LORD, etc. Essentially, originally, and of himself; naturally, immutably and universally, in all his ways and works of nature and grace; in his thoughts, purposes, counsels, and decrees; in all the dispensations of his providence; in redemption, in the justification of a sinner, in the pardon of sin, and in the gift of eternal life through Christ. “And upright are thy judgments.” They are according to the rules of justice and equity. He refers to the precepts of the word, the doctrines of the gospel, as well as the judgments of God inflicted on wicked men, and all the providential dealings of God with his people, and also the final judgment. –John Gill

We, in and of ourselves have no righteousness. Our righteousness comes from Jesus.

Talking about Jesus, Paul writes: Romans 3:25  Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; 26  To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

Psalm 145:17  The LORD is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works.

Zephaniah 3:5  The just LORD is in the midst thereof; he will not do iniquity: every morning doth he bring his judgment to light, he faileth not; but the unjust knoweth no shame.

Romans 9:14 ¶  What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.

The way to find righteousness is in Christ Jesus, not being some guru in a cave taking a vow of poverty. It is not in some religious practice performing liturgical sacraments as an unsaved unregenerate person.

Righteousness is only found in Christ Jesus. Romans 10:9  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

As a born-again saint in the Lord, one finds daily righteousness in the Lord, through His word.

Psalms 119:137  ¶TZADDI. Righteous art thou, O LORD, and upright are thy judgments. 138  Thy testimonies that thou hast commanded are righteous and very faithful.

Psalms 106:3  Blessed are they that keep judgment, and he that doeth righteousness at all times.

As David said, righteousness is found in the word of God.

2 Timothy 3:16  All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

The choice is still yours,
