Morning Devotion: Read 3 John

3 John 1:5  Beloved, thou doest faithfully whatsoever thou doest to the brethren, and to strangers; 6  Which have borne witness of thy charity before the church: whom if thou bring forward on their journey after a godly sort, thou shalt do well:

There is a contrast between this letter and second John. In second John, he writes to the elect lady and warns her against receiving into her house those who do not believe in the doctrine of Christ. Here He applauds and praises Gaius for receiving and helping true believers on their journey as they serve the true and living Lord Jesus.

Down through the years of my life, as a believer and Christian and missionary, God has blessed us with many folks who have opened their homes to us. Many folks have help us on our journey by their charity.

Gaius had the testimony of being such a person. He was loving and kind and opened his home to those of the faith. He blessed them, housed them, fed them and helped them on their journey.

Galatians 6:10  As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

Many churches have missionaries that they support and bless as they endeavour to go to their field of service. It is those people that need our blessings as they raise support and travel. They need our support while they labour in the fields of lost soul’s white unto harvest.

John 4:35  Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.

36  And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.

37  And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.

Gaius was one of those guys that could really see the need of reaching lost souls with the gospel and sought to help them on their journey.

My Christian friend, are your eyes open to the great need of seeing lost souls saved? Are you praying for labourers to go and reach those lots souls? Are you like Gaius who would help those missionaries along their way? Can people bear witness of your charity toward those of the household of faith?

Matthew 9:37  Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;

38  Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.

Are you like Gaius, helping those of the faith reach lost souls? Every person who is saved, was saved by someone giving them the message of salvation. Pray for that person who goes and gives the gospel.

Christian, the choice is still yours,
