Morning Devotion: 3 John

3 John 1:11  Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.

How do you know what is good and what is evil? Answer: The word of God which reveals the will of God.

Anything, anything that is contrary the to the word of God is contrary to the will of God and is evil.

“He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.”

He that doeth good is of God, meaning he that doeth good is already of God. He does not do good to be saved, he does good because he is already saved.

He that doeth evil hath not seen God, meaning he that doeth evil has never seen God.

John 3:17  For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

18  He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

19  And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

20  For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

21  But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

John 6:40  And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

John 14:6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

7  If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.

8  Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.

9  Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?

10  Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

11  Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake.

To see Jesus is to see the father. To see Jesus is to see God and that is the beginning of doing good.

The choice is still yours,
