Morning Devotion: Read Jude

Jude 1:4  For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

5  I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not.

The word of God is true from beginning to end, from Genesis to Revelation; every word is true in the King James Bible.

However, there were certain men crept in unaware and turned the grace of God into lasciviousness. These were ungodly men who snuck in for the purpose of changing the grace of God.

Let me give you another example of how these changes subtly come in without our knowing. They by their subtle ways take away the deity of Christ and the true gospel of salvation.

Romans 1:16  ¶For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. 17  For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

In modern versions the words “of Christ” are left out. Yes, the gospel of Christ is changed to make you think you can believe in the gospel. The word “gospel” means good news. Instead of believing in the good new of Jesus Christ they give you the idea that any good news will do. We know only Jesus’ death on the cross of calvary, His burial and His resurrection is the true gospel. No other seemingly good news by any other man will save you.

Let me give you another example.

1 Peter 2:2  As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

In modern versions the word “thereby” is replaced with the words “unto salvation.” It also gives you the idea that you can be saved by growing into salvation. No, my friend, salvation is instant upon repentance and belief in Jesus Christ. You do not grow INTO salvation. You do not have to keep doing good spiritual things to grow into salvation.

Ephesians 2:8  For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9  Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Now we come to verse five. Jude reminds those “that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called:” that there are those who are sneaky and corrupt are those who were destroyed in the wilderness.

He refers back to when Israel was redeemed from the bondage of Egypt, by the promise of God. There were those who were redeemed and later failed to trust the wonderful words of God.

Jude 1:5  I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not.

God promised to bring Israel to the land that flows with milk and honey. After experiencing and seeing God work through miracles and plagues upon Egypt and going through a divided red sea and seeing Egyptian army destroyed, they baulked when it came to fully trusting God. In fact, they followed ten men who rebelled against God. It ultimately caused Israel to wander in the wilderness for forty years. All those who rebelled perished in that wilderness.  You can read the account in numbers chapter thirteen and fourteen.

The point is this, men will attempt to persuade you to leave the truth of God. They will do so by many different ways and over many years of persuasion.

Even back in the early bible days, men wrested or twisted the scriptures to cause men and women to leave the truth of God’s word, the gospel and the deity of Christ.

2 Peter 3:15  And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; 16  As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

My friend, the truth is and always has been salvation by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, not of works or religious piety. Follow the King James Bible and know the truth.

The choice is still yours,
