Morning Devotion: Read Jude

Jude 1:4  For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

5  I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not.

6  And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.

7  Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

God gives three examples of judgment toward those who have been deceived by the ungodly men. The first is the destruction of the Israelites who refuse to trust God and rebelled believing men who denied the Lord and His promises.

The second is the angels who are kept in everlasting chains for the judgment and for destruction.

The third is the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrha because they also refused to trust God and were led away by lust. They were destroyed by fire and then eternal fire.

They had the word of God given to them just as you and I do today.

Before the flood, they had God’s word. 2 Peter 2:5  And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;

God’s word was carried from Noah throughout the land from generation to generation.

However, just as then even so now, men refuse to trust in God and His word of truth. They have corrupt themselves.

Whenever you leave the word of truth and embrace another it will always leave you wanting. It will leave you restless and struggling for that which is right. It will leave you trusting in yourself rather than God.

Romans 1:19  ¶Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.

20  For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

21  Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

22  Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

23  And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.

24  Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:

25  Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

God tells us that in the last days His word will be hard to find.

Amos 8:11  ¶Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD: 12  And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it.

I think we are seeing that today. We have a multitude of bible versions where the water is muddied. We have cell phone bibles where a simple app can be changed and no one would be the wiser. We have men who speak words that are not biblical in order to change the grace of God.

Let me give you another example.

1 John 5:7  For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

8  And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.

In the modern versions these verses are either compacted to leave out verse 37 or the commentary makes some excuse that the older manuscripts do not contain verse 37. The older manuscripts are not old at all, they are modern versions claimed to be older. Man may say what he wants but the truth is the truth.

You see how things can change without your knowledge? Jesus is part of the Trinity. Colossians 2:9  For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

Jesus said in John 8:24  “I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.”

God’s word is here today and will be here forever. Matthew 5:18  For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Man may change it, but that does not change what God said. What He said will stand forever, no matter what man says.

The choice is still yours,
