Morning Devotion: Read Jude

Jude 1:4  For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

Jude 1:8  ¶Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities.

From the beginning there have been those who would turn the grace of God in lasciviousness. They would, with feigned words, attempt to alter God’s word.

It started all the way back in Genesis. Genesis 3:1  Now the serpent (meaning the devil) was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? 2  And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: 3  But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. 4  And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: 5  For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

All through the ages and even today, men with feigned words, will dream up things that are untrue. They don’t call them dreams today, they call them visions and revelations and new understandings. It is the same deceit, just a new dressing.

Jude 1:8  ¶Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities.

Jeremiah 23:21  I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied.

22  But if they had stood in my counsel, and had caused my people to hear my words, then they should have turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings.

23  Am I a God at hand, saith the LORD, and not a God afar off?

24  Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the LORD.

25  I have heard what the prophets said, that prophesy lies in my name, saying, I have dreamed, I have dreamed.

26  How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies? yea, they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart;

27  Which think to cause my people to forget my name by their dreams which they tell every man to his neighbour, as their fathers have forgotten my name for Baal.

Jude 1:8  Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities.

These ungodly men who creep in and spread false truths, however small, will eventually speak evil of that which is good. You can tell who they are if you really look and know the truth first.

Matthew 7:16  Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 17  Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. 18  A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 19  Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 20  Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

God is against these filthy dreamers. He is against the devil; he is against the false prophets and he is against those who creep in unaware and change the grace of God.

Jeremiah 23:32  Behold, I am against them that prophesy false dreams, saith the LORD, and do tell them, and cause my people to err by their lies, and by their lightness; yet I sent them not, nor commanded them: therefore they shall not profit this people at all, saith the LORD.

You can follow the dreamer or you can follow God. I will choose to follow that which is established and true making a sure foundation.

The choice is still yours,
