Morning Devotion: Read Jude

Jude 1:20  But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, 21  Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

God has given us some wonderful helps to keep the Christian life growing and fresh and alive.

In 2 Peter we have some wonderful characteristics to embrace in building our most holy faith.

We have already discussed virtue which is a moral excellence centered on the principals of God and His word.

Do you have a faith filled with virtue? Are you not just morally good; are you morally good in Christ?

That happens through the knowledge of God. Knowledge precedes and follows virtue.

2 Peter 1:3  According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

2 Peter 1:4  Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

5  ¶And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith VIRTUE; and to virtue KNOWLEDGE;

6  And to knowledge TEMPERANCE; and to temperance PATIENCE; and to patience GODLINESS;

7  And to godliness BROTHERLY KINDNESS; and to brotherly kindness CHARITY.

8  For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

9  But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

Proverbs 1:7  The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Proverbs 2:1  ¶My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;

2  So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;

3  Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;

4  If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;

5  Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

6  For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

There it is, knowledge is first understanding the fear of the Lord.

Proverbs 2 tells us that knowledge is found in the word of God. Proverbs 2: 6  For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

This knowledge does not come from normal everyday wisdom or might or anything you posses, it comes from God.

Jeremiah 9:23  ¶Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches:

24  But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.

I am convinced that every facet of every aspect of life both physical and eternal can be found in the wonderful word of God. God who created this universe and all that it is gave us His word.

The knowledge of God, in the word of God will shew you salvation in Christ Jesus. It will guide you into all truth.

1 Corinthians 1:4  I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ;

5  That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge;

6  Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you:

7  So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ:

2 Peter 3:18  But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

To have this kind of knowledge you must be born-again for it is a part of the divine nature. It is the influence of God.

Add to your faith virtue and to virtue knowledge.

The choice is still yours,
