When Adam sinned in the garden of Eden, he became a sinner. He died spiritually causing the sinful nature. Read Gensis chapter 3. That sinful nature was passed to every person. Adam is the grandfather of us all, therefore all are sinners.

Romans 3:23  For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Because we are now sinners, everything we do is laced with sin. Every action thought and motive is laced with sin. That means anything we do for God has a tinge of sin running through it.

Any prayer, any good works, any honour and any worship toward God is laced with sin because we are sinners. Thanks Adam!

Isaiah 64:6  But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

So , you see, all of our good and righteous deeds are laced with sin and cannot bring us to salvation. God knew this. God loves you and prepared a way for you to be saved. That way was in love for you and to you.
