Morning Devotion: Questions and Answers

Question: Is the Bible the word of God? Answer: Yes

First, we must understand that everybody has something that governs their life. That governing factor may be their conscience, or a set of core values, or some creed or familial principles and traditions by which they live. Some believe their church sets the mandate by which they live. Most of North America lives by what they have received through education.

As you review the above list you will quickly realize that each one is a principle, value, creed, set of ethics or mandate given by some other person. You live by the things you have learned. If the teaching you received is corrupt your living will be corrupt. If the teaching you received is right, your living will be right.

Colossians 2:8  Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

There is a wonderful and permanent word that man can have and live by; it is the word of God.

God gave us His word.

2 Peter 1:19  We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

20  Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.

21  For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

Holy men of God were moved by the Holy Ghost to write the word of God.

I can understand why people say, the word of God was written by men, implying it is corrupt because man is corrupt. What we fail to realize is that God moved these men to write. We do not have that privilege today for the word of God is complete. Through inspiration of the revealed word and will of God these men wrote.

They wrote a more sure word of prophecy. Read the context of 2 Peter. It is refereeing to the mount of transfiguration in Matthew 17. Jesus was transformed into a glorious body and two men in white visited Him. Peter and James and John saw it. They exclaim, the word of God is more sure than the miracle seen that day. Read Matthew chapter 17.

God’s word does not change as do the ethics, values, morals and beliefs of the world; they change at the whim of man.

Psalms 119:89  For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.

Notice, God said His word is settled in heaven, forever. No matter what man does here on earth with God’s word, God’s word will remain constant and true and right forever. No matter how many translations there are that attempt to dilute and change it, God’s word it will remain and it will do as God has said.

Isaiah 55:11  So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

It will be that word, God’s word, that is settled in heaven, that will judge you. It will not be what saith some creed, moral, ethical, relative truth that judges; it will be God’s word.

Matthew 5:18  For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

John 12:48  He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

We will be judged by what saith the Lord.

With all that being said; yes, the bible is the written word of God. We can be assured God’s word will be there for us in this life as well.

For salvation, Romans 10:17  So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Ephesians 1:12  That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. 13  In whom ye also trusted, AFTER THAT YE HEARD THE WORD OF TRUTH, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, 14  Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

For daily living, Psalms 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

Psalms 119:9 Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.

Proverbs 3:5  Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6  In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

The choice is still yours,
