Morning Devotion: Questions and Answers
Question: Will the communion save me? Answer: No
This is another divisive issue that has caused the death of thousands of genuine believers down through the ages. Read Foxes Book of Martyrs to discover the history of the atrocities. It centered around the issues of whether Christ body was in the bread and wine. No where, no where does the bible tell us Christ is in the bread and wine of the Lord’s supper.
There are three terms used for communion; communion, Lord’s Supper and the Lord’s table. No where in the bible is it called “holy communion,” or “eucharist;” these two terms are man made, not of God.
The Lord’s supper is an ordinance delivered to the church, to show the Lord’s death until he comes back.
1 Corinthians 11:23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:
To be a part of a church, you must first be saved. Only born-again, bible believing, blood bought Christians can be part of the church.
Acts 2:41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
Ergo, only baptized church members should partake of the Lord’s supper. There is no saving grace in taking the Lord’s supper, none. Why? Because you should already be saved before you take it.
The supper is taken in “remembrance” of Christ.
1 Corinthians 11:24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in REMEMBERANCE of me. 25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in REMEMBERANCE of me.
My wedding band is to remind me that I am married; my wedding band is not my wife, just a reminder. The bread and wine (grape juice) and the taking of the Lord’s supper is a reminder. It is not the actual body and blood of Christ.
Christ died once on the cross of Calvary. He died once to take away your sins and mine.
The Lord’s supper is taken to show the Lord’s death until he comes back. It is not to enact the Lord’s death over and over again.
Hebrews 9:28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
To take the Lord’s supper as an unsaved person is asking for trouble from God.
1 Corinthians 11:29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body. 30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep. That word “sleep” means “die.”
The best thing to do is believe on the Lord’s death, burial and resurrection and be saved. He died for you that you might be saved. Then, get baptized shewing the Lord’s death, burial and resurrection, and then take the Lord’s supper in remembrance of Him.
Question: Will the communion save me? Answer: No. It is not a work done to obtain salvation but rather a work done after one is already saved.
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
The choice is still yours,
