Morning Devotion: Questions and Answers

Question: What is prophecy? Answer: God’s detailed future of His events.

We call it His Story – History

God gives us His wonderful word, the Bible. He gave us the bible to reveal Himself to us. We learn of God through His word.

Yes, the heavens declare the glory of God and the firmament shows us His handy work, but the word clarifies it for us.

Psalms 19:1 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. 2  Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. 3  There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard. 4  Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun, 5  Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race. 6  His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.

Romans 1:20  For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

The world we see is made by God and through sight we know God exists. The bible declares God.

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

One author said that Genesis 1:1 is a perfect trinity, it is time (in the beginning), it is space, (created the heaven), and it is matter (the earth).

God created time space and matter simultaneously, without which nothing could exist.

Since God created time, space and matter, He exist outside of time, space and matter. He is God.

You, by the way are part of that creation and God wanted you to know Him, as a result, He gave you and I, His word.

God’s word tells us what He has done, what He is doing and what He will do.

In the book of Revelation, Jesus told the Apostle John to write of the history, the present and the future.

Revelation 1:18  I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death. 19  Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter;

Do you know your history? Do you know what is going on today? Do you know what will happen in the future? Do you know if your future includes an eternity in heaven with the Lord? It is all in the bible.

All that to say this, God has given us a promise that Jesus will one day return to this earth for us.

John 14:1  Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2  In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

Hebrews 9:28  So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

Revelation 22:12  And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. 13  I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. 14  Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

While there are many verses stating the Lord’s return, the above three ought to give us great hope of His return.

Titus 2:13  Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

1 Peter 1:13  Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

2 Thessalonians 2:16  ¶Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, 17  Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.

Joyfully, it all begins and ends with Jesus.

The choice is still yours,
