Question: Can I have victory over sin? Answer: Absolutely, yes.
To have victory over sin one must first recognize sin. What is sin?
God’s word teaches us that sin is a transgression of the law of God. 1 John 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
Sin is to fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Sin is to do your own thing and have your own way regardless of what God wants. Isaiah 53:6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
It is to forsake, turn from and disregard the Lord. Judges 10:10 And the children of Israel cried unto the LORD, saying, We have sinned against thee, both because we have forsaken our God, and also served Baalim.
Sin is unrighteousness. Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
There are other names for sin. When David sought God and confessed, he named several terms for sin.
Psalms 51:1 Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my TRANSGRESSIONS. 2 Wash me throughly from mine INIQUITY, and cleanse me from my SIN. 3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me. 4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this EVIL in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.
How did we get this sin? Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
As a result of our inherited sinful nature, thanks Adam, we are slaves to sin. While we like to think ourselves to be good people, deep down, we are sinners.
Man is dead in sins. Ephesians 2:5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
Colossians 2:13 ¶And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
1 Peter 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
The question remains: Can I have victory over sin? Answer: Absolutely, yes.
Romans 5:17 For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.
Romans 5:21 That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.
The first step to victory over sin is realize you are what the bible declares you to be and turn to Jesus Christ to save you from your sins. Read Romans 5:17 and 21 again.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Yes, you can have victory over sin. To have that victory you must go through step one, Jesus. You no longer have to be a servant of sin.
Romans 6:18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
Romans 6:20 For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.
