Morning Devotion: Questions and Answers

Question: Is it possible to know God’s will for my life? Answer: Yes.

In finding the will of God we must first go to God for it is His will we seek. God has provided us a wonderful book that clearly and definitely defines His will. Remember, His will is good for us.

His will is found in both positive and negative imperatives or commands.

2 Corinthians 6:14  Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? 15  And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? 16  And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 17  Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, 18  And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

Here we have a negative command. We see that the believer is not to be married to an unbeliever. We also see that we are to be separate from the unclean or that which defiles. Defiles what? Defiles the temple and you are the temple, that is if you’re a believer.

How many young people have married the wrong person missing the will of God because they were twitterpated and did not follow God’s will. God tells us to refrain from being with and angry man, or a liar, or a cheater and many other things, yet, they overlooked those things and that of salvation and married the unbeliever. Today, their marriages are broken and they are living hard lives.

That is just one example of how God’s will is good for you. God’s will covers every aspect of our lives.

We know God’s will is for all men to be saved. 1 Timothy 2:4  Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

God’s will is for His child to be sanctified or set apart for Him. You are special, you are set apart by salvation and that is very important.

1 Thessalonians 4:3  For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: 4  That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;

Oh, my dear friend, there is a special blessing in being holy in our attitude, actions and thoughts. It is well pleasing to God and good for you.

God’s will is that we pray and rejoice listen to the Spirit of God and prove things by the word of God hold fast to the good and not the bad. His will is that we abstain from even the appearance of evil. These are all good for you and pleasing to God. These are positive commands.

1 Thessalonians 5:16  ¶Rejoice evermore.

17  Pray without ceasing.

18  In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

19  Quench not the Spirit.

20  Despise not prophesyings.

21  Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.

22  Abstain from all appearance of evil.

23  ¶And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

As a father, I am always pleased when my children walk in faith and follow the will of God. That is well pleasing to me. The same with God, He is pleased with His children following His will. He knows it is good for us.

1 Thessalonians 5:23  And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

There is a special peace that comes from knowing you are doing good and in the will of God.

Do you have that, do you want that? You can. It starts with Jesus.

1 John 2:17  And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

The choice is still yours,
