Morning Devotion: Questions and Answers

Question: Is it possible to know God’s will for my life? Answer: Yes.

It is possible for you to know the will of God for your life. The main way to know God’s will is to read God’s word, pray and allow the Holy Spirit of God to use it in your life.

The word of God is specific about the Holy Spirit and his work in one’s life. First, you must have the Holy Spirit to be guided by the Holy Spirit. That only happens when one is saved.

Ephesians 1:12  That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. 13  In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, 14  Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

When you trust in the Lord Jesus to save you, you are filled, sealed with the Holy Spirit. No salvation, no Spirit, no Spirit, no will of God. If you have not Spirit of God, you will be led by another spirit, that is the spirit of man.

1 Corinthians 2:11  For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. 12  Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. 13  Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14  But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

The natural man is the unsaved man. The unsaved man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God for they are foolishness to him. However, the Spirit of God works with the unsaved man in several ways.

John 16:8  And when he (meaning the Spirit of God) is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9  Of sin, because they believe not on me; 10  Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; 11  Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

My dear unsaved friend, the Holy Spirit convicts of sin and wickedness in one’s life, if there is no conviction and no belief and no care for God, you are not saved, you are headed for a devil’s hell. There must be a conviction of sin and of righteousness, (God’s righteousness and your unrighteousness) and of the judgment to come. Would you, are you, listening to God?

After you are saved, you still have to read the word of God and pray and allow the Spirit of God to work in your life and teach you the word of God.

John 16:13  Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. 14  He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. 15  All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

John 14:26  But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

I cannot emphasize this enough; the word of God must be read and must be understood to know the will of God.

I am convinced, if the believer would follow what he or she already knows about the will of God, 90% of their problems would be answered.

We, as believers, place all of our faith and practice on the infallible word of God. It is all we have; it is all we need, because God is all we need. If God says it, we believe it.

If you are saved, you turned from sin and self and trusted Jesus to save your soul. If you trusted Him to save your soul for eternity, you can also trust Him to lead and guide in this temporary life as well. That leading comes through the word of God. The Christian life is a marvelous journey.

The choice is still yours,
