Morning Devotion: Questions and Answers

Question: Is hell real? Answer: Yes.

We have discussed the truth that hell is under the mountains with bars around it and the rich man in Luke 16 was down in hell. The question then remains how can such molten lava and liquid fire exist in the earth’s core?

Modern secular scientists do not know. Huguet, L. et al. 2018. Earth’s inner core nucleation paradoxEarth and Planetary Science Letters. 487 (April 1): 9-20.

We know how it exist. Colossians 1:16  For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: 17  And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

It exists the same way the sun’s fire exists in an oxygen free environment at temperatures hundreds and hundreds of degrees below freezing. God keeps the fire burning.

The prospect of hell should frighten each and every person on this planet. The prospect of fire and torment should bring every person to their knees seeking God’s mercy. Alas, it does not and God must, by virtue of His righteousness, execute His word.

Matthew 13:42  And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Matthew 13:50  And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

The hopelessness of this type of future is not yet finished. In the end, when God completes his final judgment all ungodly, unsaved men and women and hell itself, will be cast into the lake of fire. One goes from hell to the lake of fire. It does not cease to exist but moves from terrible to a worse.

Let’s look at that judgment.

Revelation 20:11  ¶And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

12  And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

13  And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

14  And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

15  And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

We know that good works will not save you, Ephesians 2:8-9. Those who are judged by their good works then are already condemned. It is only through the saving grace and mercy of Jesus Christ will you ever be saved.

Ephesians 2:8  For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9  Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Titus 3:5  Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

God tells us that judgment will be in the presence of Jesus and then the lake of fire becomes the final pronouncement.

Revelation 14:10  The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: 11  And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.

There will be no rest day nor night. It will be forever.

The good news is this; you can escape all the suffering by turning from sin and self toward Jesus to save your soul.

John 3:36  He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

Romans 10:9  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

10  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

11  For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

12  ¶For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.

13  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

The choice is still yours,
