Morning Devotion: Questions and Answers

Question: Is Heaven real? Answer: Yes.

When we speak of heaven most often, we refer to the place where God is and where we may, depending if your born-again or not, spend eternity in what is called eternal life.

However, heaven is referred to as several different places. There is the first heaven.

Genesis 1:8  And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.

Genesis 1:20  ¶And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.

Jeremiah 4:25  I beheld, and, lo, there was no man, and all the birds of the heavens were fled.

Daniel 4:12  The leaves thereof were fair, and the fruit thereof much, and in it was meat for all: the beasts of the field had shadow under it, and the fowls of the heaven dwelt in the boughs thereof, and all flesh was fed of it.

The sky is where the birds fly is called the first heaven.

The second heaven is described in when God blessed Abraham. Genesis 22:17  That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;

Nehemiah 9:23  Their children also multipliedst thou as the stars of heaven, and broughtest them into the land, concerning which thou hadst promised to their fathers, that they should go in to possess it.

Psalms 19:1  The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.

The place where the stars are is called the second heaven.

1 Kings 8:27  But will God indeed dwell on the earth? behold, the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house that I have builded?

1 Kings 8:30  And hearken thou to the supplication of thy servant, and of thy people Israel, when they shall pray toward this place: and hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place: and when thou hearest, forgive.

2 Corinthians 12:2  I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven.

The third heaven is the place where God is.

When Jesus taught His disciples about prayer, he referred to this third heaven.

Matthew 6:9  After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10  Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

How many pray this prayer commonly called the Lord’s prayer. It is not the Lord’s prayer it is an example of how to pray. Yet, people repeat this as a prayer not really knowing what they pray. Do you really want God’s will to be done on earth as it is in heaven? In other words, is your heart and mind of such a state that everything is pure and right and honest and virtuous as in heaven? Is your lifestyle commensurate to heaven, for in heaven there is no sin?

God’s will, will eventually be done on earth as it is in heaven. When that happens all things will change and only those who are born-again will remain.

Revelation 20:11  And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

12  And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

13  And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

14  And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

15  And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Revelation 21:1  And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
