Morning Devotion: Questions and Answers

Question: Is heaven real? Answer: Yes.

Heaven, the reality brings a sense of peace to our soul in the midst of a troubled world. For the child of God, heaven is the that which we long for and set our affection on. We have no joy or fellowship with this world. All this world provides is sorrow, disappointments and heartaches. Heaven is the very place that we long for and look forward to.

Colossians 3:1  If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. 2  Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. 3  For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. 4  When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

When the believer enters into eternity, when they die, heaven is the place where they go. What a comfort, what a joy.

2 Corinthians 5:6  Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: 7  (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) 8  We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord

When the believer dies, his soul immediately goes to be with the Lord, the body returns to dust until the resurrection. At that time, we will be with the Lord in the city of God heaven.

Hebrews 12:22  But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,

23  To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, 24  And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant,

If the Lord does not return in your life time, be assured that death will be a step into presence of the Lord.

Psalms 23:4  Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me:

Our heavenly prospect is wonderful. As we already read, being absent from the body is to present with the Lord.

One man wrote this poem and had it as an epitaph on his grave stone.
Beneath these clouds and beneath these trees, Lies the body of Solomon Peas;

This is not Peas; it is only his pod; Peas has shelled out and gone Home to God.

Just as Solomon Peas we too look forward to the resurrection should we die before the rapture. We can read about this resurrection in I Corinthians 15: 35-57. Here is an excerpt.

1 Corinthians 15:42  So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption: 43  It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power: 44  It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.

1 Corinthians 15:51  ¬∂Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52  In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53  For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54  So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. 55  O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? 56  The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. 57  But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

My believing friend, one day the Lord will return and take us home to be with Him. We will be raptured and removed spared from wrath and rewarded with heaven. Will you be with us?

1 Thessalonians 4:16  For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18  Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

The return of the Lord is eminent. All prophecy has been fulfilled for His return and for the rapture. It can happen at any time. The Lord knows who are His and who are not. He will call His own to be with Him. Those who are not His will be left behind.

John 10:27  My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
