Morning Devotion: What’s the difference?
What is a fundamentalist? Why, he is one who believes in the basics of any thing or activity of which he participates in. A fundamental in finance is that one does not spend more then they make. If that one fundamental is violated it will always cause debt, always. People end up taking loans and obtaining credit cards and buying beyond their means when they violate that one fundamental.
The same is with the born-again Christian, they have fundamentals which are never violated.
1. The virgin birth of our Lord Jesus Christ.
2. The deity of our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus is God in the flesh.
3. The substitutionary death of our Lord Jesus Christ.
4. The bodily resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.
5. The literal bodily return of our Lord Jesus Christ commonly called the second coming.
The word of God teaches that Jesus will one day return to this earth. That is
not to be confused with the rapture as described in I Thessalonians 4.
1 Thessalonians 4:14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
The rapture is the catching away of the believer to be with the Lord sparing us from the wrath to come.
The second coming of the Lord happens at the end of the seven-year tribulation period as described in Matthew chapter 24 and Daniel chapters 7-12 and others.
Matthew 24:4 ¶And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. 5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. 6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. 9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake. 10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. 11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. 12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
Luke 21:28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.
The second coming of the Lord is described in Revelation 19.
Revelation 19:11 ¶And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. 12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. 13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. 14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. 15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. 16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
My friend, when that happens, all that is wrong in this world will be made right. The wicked will be destroyed and righteousness will rule. Tyranny will be eradicated and a wonderful theological rule will prevail. Jesus will be the benevolent ruler.
Those who are not believers in Christ Jesus will be removed and only, only the believer will remain. Just a Noah and his family survived the flood so the surviving believer will enter into the millennium with Christ.
To recap, the believer today will be raptured before the tribulation and those who believe during the tribulation and survive will enter into the millennium with Jesus to replenish the earth.
The raptured believer will return with Jesus at His second coming and will rule and reign with Him.
Jude 1:14 And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, 15 To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.
Are you a born-again believer?
The choice is still yours,
