Morning Devotion: The Lord’s prayer.

John 17:1  ¶These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: 2  As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him. 3  And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

The true Lord’s prayer is when the Lord Jesus prayed to God the Father. It is not the out line Jesus used when He taught His disciples to pray in Matthew 6 and Luke 11.

In John 17:2, Jesus prayed that God would glorify Jesus so that Jesus would glorify God the Father. How does that work? Jesus did the will of the Father that the Father may receive all the glory.

Do you realize all glory belongs to God the Father? When Jesus died on the cross, he defeated death and hell. He died and rose again giving us the promise of the resurrection. One day He will return and subdue all things unto Himself. When all things are subdued to Jesus, when every knee bows, then Jesus will present everything He had accomplished to God the Father that God the Father will be all in all. All glory will ultimately go to the Father.

Philippians 2:10  That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11  AND THAT EVERY TOUNGE SHOULD CONFESS THAT JESUS CHRIST IS LORD, TO THE GLORY OF GOD THE FATHER.

Speaking about Jesus -1 Corinthians 15:27  For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him. 28  And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.

God the Father’s plan is that you bow the knee to Jesus. God’s plan is that you honour the Son. There are a lot of people that say. “I believe in God” and give no credence to Jesus and even reject Jesus embracing religion and false notions. My friend, if you do not have Jesus, you do not have God the Father no matter what you say or believe to the contrary.

John 5:22  For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: 23  That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.

Even Jesus honoured God the Father, that is why He prayed – John 17:1  “… glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:”

John 8:54  Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God:

John 12:32  And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.

33  This he said, signifying what death he should die.

When you reject Jesus, for whatever reason, you reject God the Father. When you trust in yourself to save yourself, you reject the Son and no glory goes to God the Father but to you and your self righteousness.

Jeremiah 17:5  Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD. 6  For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited. 7  Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.

Psalms 2:12  Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.

It is refreshing to know that Jesus is the one to save and to bless and to bring us to God the Father.

John 14:1  Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

As the Father draws you and the Holy Spirit convicts you, make the choice to trust in the Son Jesus Christ the righteous.

The Father – John 6:44  No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

The Holy Spirit – John 16:8  And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9  Of sin, because they believe not on me; 10  Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; 11  Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

The Son – John 6:37  All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

Romans 10:9  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Romans 10:13  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

The choice is still yours,
