Morning Devotion: Read Luke – Christmas Story

Luke 2:11  For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. 12  And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. 13  And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, 14  Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

The message of Christmas is Christ; Christ Jesus the Saviour of the world was sent forth for you. God sent Jesus, the Babe the Christ child to this world to save all of us from our sins.

1 John 4:9  In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. 10  Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

1 John 4:14  And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.

That is the only, most important message one can ever hear. It is a message that changes the heart and soul for all eternity.

Paul said in 1 Timothy 1:15  “This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.”

Not only is it a message for the world, it is a message to you personally. Paul said “of whom I am chief.” Paul knew He was a sinner and he needed Christ. It was personal.

John 3:17  For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

John 3:36  He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

You see, it is personal. Each and every person must make the choice to accept or reject the glorious truth that Jesus Christ is your personal Saviour.

Luke 2:11  For unto YOU is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

There is no person or religion or effort that can save your soul but Christ.

Micah 6:6  Wherewith shall I come before the LORD, and bow myself before the high God? shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves of a year old? 7  Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil? shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? 8  He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?

Matthew 9:13  But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

1John 5:11  And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

Even Jesus Himself said, He came to save you, personally.

John 12:46  I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

47  And IF ANY MAN HEAR MY WORDS, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

48  He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

49  For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.

50  And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.

The last phrase of this passage is completed in you when you believe. When you believe your heart is changed and the peace of God and the good will is there with you.

John 14:27  Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Having the peace with God and of God is paramount in Christ. It is a personal message to you. Would to you believe?

The choice is still yours,
