Morning Devotion: Read I Peter

1 Peter 1:3  ¶Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

4  To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,

5  Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

6  ¶Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:

You and I have a glorious inheritance which is incorruptible, it cannot be violated. It is undefiled there are no impurities in our inheritance and it will never, never fade away. (When I say you and I, I mean those who are born-again believing in the Lord Jesus Christ.)

We fade away, our life is like a vapour that appears for a while and then is gone but our inheritance will never fade.

Isaiah 64:6  ¶But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

James 4:14  Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.

Our inheritance is reserved in heaven, it is waiting for us. Are you ready to receive it, one day we will when Jesus comes to take us with Him?

The wonderful thing about all this is the fact that we, and our inheritance are kept by God. God who is from everlasting to everlasting keeps us and our inheritance by His power. His power is the power that created the heaven and the earth.

Genesis 1:1  In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

He is from everlasting to everlasting.

Revelation 22:13  I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.

Never think or believe or even contemplate that God does not have the power to save and keep those who are saved, forever. All those who come to Him will receive the promise and the inheritance. But you must come to Him in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Jesus said in Revelation 21:6  “And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.”

2 Peter 1:11  For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

We can take great comfort in the fact that our inheritance is everlasting.

2 Thessalonians 2:16  Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, 17  Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.

We look forward to 2022 and the many opportunities that wait for us as believers. However, along with those opportunities come temptations and trials.

So, with the promise of the inheritance and the promise of everlasting life and the promise of a purity that does not fade, we look forward to the coming of Christ as we proceed into the new year. Our fsith is in Jesus, our hope is in God and our confidence is in the word of God.

The choice is still yours,
