Morning Devotion: Read I Peter

1 Peter 1:5  Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

6  ¶Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:

7  That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

8  Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

9  Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

In this portion of I Peter we find the word “faith.” We find we are kept by faith and our faith is tried and we receive the end of our faith.

Faith is of great importance in the Christian life. It is by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ that we are saved.

Ephesians 2:8  For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9  Not of works, lest any man should boast.

We as believers are taught to live by faith in God. There are those of great faith, and little faith, weak faith and strong faith. We have a communion of faith with God.

There are those who are faithless and of reprobate faith and some of no faith at all. There are those who have erred from the faith.

Those who live by faith are pleasing to God, not because of their faith but because of their faith in God. People have faith in all kinds of things, circumstances, politics, economy, ecosystems, agriculture, money and the list go on and on. But the reality of it is this, have faith in God.

Hebrews 11:6  But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

As we enter into 2022 we will find trials and blessings ahead. While we rejoice in the power of God to keep us we are also cautioned of the heaviness and temptations that are to try our faith.

The trying of your faith will come and when it does, will you be of those who will have the victory by faith in God?

You see, the just, the redeemed, the born-again who have already experienced the saving grace of God can go through these trials by faith in God.

Habakkuk 2:4b…but the JUST shall live by his faith.

Hebrews 10:38  Now the JUST shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.

1 John 5:4  For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

In our text, Peter wrote to those who had already experienced persecution and were literally scatted abroad, running for their lives, because their faith. They were already in trial for their faith. He encouraged them to keep the faith looking forward to the return of Christ. We have had very little trial of our faith up to this point. What will you do, how will you react when the true trial of your faith is brought to light?

1 Peter 1: 7  That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

God wants us to live by faith not by site or seeing the situations and circumstances around us. He wants us to  for look to Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.

How do we do that? There are two ways to do that.

Read and study the word of God.- Romans 10:17  So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

PrayJude 1:20  But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,

When the trial comes, you will know the will of God through the word of God.  You will have confidence in God through prayer. That my friend is the beginning of the exercising of your faith.

The choice is still yours,
