Morning Devotion: Read 2 Peter 3

2 Peter 3:18  But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

We are in the last days!  There are 7 thousand years of mankind before the beginning of eternity.  We are at the 6000-year mark before the Tribulation. The creation took place at app. 4000 BC.  The birth of Christ occurred at app. 2000 years ago.  This last 2000 has been called the Age of the Church.  There will be the 1000-year reign of Christ in the Millennium.  This makes up the 7 days of man.  We live at the end of the Church Age.  The last days (a day with the Lord is as a thousand years and a thousand years as a day) began at the beginning of the 4th Millennium, or during the time of Christ.  Therefore, we live in the last of the last days just prior to the 2nd Coming of Christ in the Rapture of the Church.  Peter is giving final admonition to believers.  In verses 14-17, Peter said to be found in certain things.  In verse 18, Peter said to grow in grace.

One thing we need to know – Grace Does Not Grow

Grace Is Abundant – 2 Corinthians 4:15  For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God.

1 Timothy 1:14  And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

Grace Is Sufficient For Salvation – Romans 3:24  Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

Ephesians 1:7  In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

Grace Is Sufficient For Service – 2 Corinthians 12:9  And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Secondly – You Are to Grow In Grace (Within the realm of God’s love and favor)

You are the one that must grow in grace. I wonder how many people really know little about the grace of God? Living in God’s favor is the grace of God.

We need to know it is God’s grace that saves us. Ephesians 2:8  For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

9  Not of works, lest any man should boast.

From that point on we are to grow in that grace, grow in the saving grace of God.

2 Peter 3:18  But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

The more time you spend with God the more grace you experience. The more grace you experience the more you grow in grace and in the knowledge of God.

Do you remember2 Peter 1:2  Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,

There it is grace is coupled with knowledge, the more knowledge of God the more you grow in grace.

If you never read the bible or go to church or fellowship with true believers or spend time in prayer, the less grace you will experience. Those who are aloof from God and yet expect God to bless them are in real need of true grace, for they do not know.

Grace comes from God for God is all grace – 1 Peter 5:10.

Humble yourself and forget this world and spend time with God.

James 4:6  But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

1 Peter 5:5b… for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

We are saved by God’s grace and we are to grow in God’s grace.

The choice is still yours,
