Morning Devotion: Read Acts 1

Acts 1:1  The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach,

2  Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:

3  To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:

We find our risen Lord speaking with His own after the resurrection and telling them of things pertaining to the kingdom.

Luke 24:36  And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.

37  But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit.

38  And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts?

39  Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.

40  And when he had thus spoken, he shewed them his hands and his feet.

41  And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here any meat?

42  And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb.

43  And he took it, and did eat before them.

44  And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.

45  Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,

46  And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:

47  And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

48  And ye are witnesses of these things.

If I may, let me bring out a simple truth this morning. In verse 38 we read: “And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts?

39  Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.”

Jesus is the way the truth and the life. That is very important to know. He is the life of the flesh for God breathed life into the very core of Adam and we are born after Adam.

Genesis 2:7  And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Jesus is our life. He gives the light of life to every person alive today.

John 1:4  In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

John 1:9  That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

You have life and I have life, natural life, living life, because of Jesus.

Having said that we find that the human body is alive because of the blood given by the Lord.

Leviticus 17:11  For the life of the flesh is in the blood:…

Leviticus 17:14  For it is the life of all flesh; the blood of it is for the life thereof:…

You cannot live without blood coursing throughout your body. Lose the blood and you die. For the life of the flesh is in the blood.

When we are raptured, we will have new bodies, new life, that life will be without the earthy life we now enjoy, it will be better. Remember the said: “handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.”

He had flesh and bones, not flesh and blood. Yes, when we are raptured, we will enjoy true life in Christ for He is the life of the flesh. We will be like Him.

1 Corinthians 15:47  The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.

48  As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.

49  And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.

50  Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

You have life and I have life, natural life, living life, because of Jesus. We all can enjoy eternal life because of Jesus as well. The only thing is this, you must turn from sin and self and place your whole being, both the earthy and the eternal in the hands of Jesus.

John 14:6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

The choice is still yours,
