Morning Devotion: Read Acts 1

Acts 1:8  But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

9  And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.

10  And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;

11  Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

Verse eleven is a tremendous verse for believers. It is a verse of direction and purpose with great promise.

The time was urgent back then, it is even more urgent now. The message is simply this, get busy. Stop gazing and get busy. Stop letting life pass you by and get busy. Stop living a mondain life and get busy; get busy serving the Lord. Be a witness for Jesus.

Acts 1:8  But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

All of the book of Acts is about spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ, planting churches and seeing the Lord save those souls nearest to hell. WOW! What a wonderful mandate from God.

Let me stop here and ask you a question, do you know the Lord Jesus as your personal Lord and Saviour? Are you saved, born-again, a believer in Jesus Christ, or are you trusting in religion and good deeds of that religion of of yourself to save you?

Believer, do you know the message you are to preach? Do you know verses in the bible which would lead someone to Jesus? Are you able to tell others about how Jesus saved you?

Let me give you a few verses to learn.

Romans 3:10  As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

Romans 3:23  For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Romans 5:12  Wherefore, as by one man (that one man is Adam) sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

Romans 5:8  But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 6:23  For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Romans 10:9  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

10  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

11  For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

12  ¬∂For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.

13  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

There you have it, a simple plan in scriptures to show someone how to be saved.

The men in white apparel, the angels, related a message of stop gazing and get busy.

I hope you are busy about the things of the Lord.

The choice is still yours,
