Morning Devotion: Read Acts 2

Acts 2:1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

2  And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

3  And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

4  And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

That sound of a mighty rushing wind that came from God was indicative of God’s breath of life. In the Strongs concordance the word wind in the same word used in Acts 17:25 for breath. God gives breath to all living.

Ac 2:2  And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind <4157>, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

Ac 17:25  Neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath <4157>, and all things;

Genesis 2:7  And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Job 33:4  The Spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.

Just as God breathed life into Adam so He gives the Holy Ghost to those who have new life in Christ.

Let’s get this clear, God breathed into man the breath of life and man became a living soul. When you are born, you take in that first breath of life, when you die you expel that last breath of life.

Here in this upper room was a life-giving experience that every soul has upon belief in Jesus.

The Holy Ghost is not only evidence of a new life, He is the seal of God’s promise.

Ephesians 1:12  That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. 13  In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, 14  Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

The fire was a visible demonstration of God fulfilling His word. It was perfect in its performance.

Matthew 3:11  I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:

Have you ever heard the phrase, “He has the fire, or “That boy is on fire?”

I love it when young preacher preaches with fire and compassion for the Lord. I love it when the young and old get on fire for God. Are you on fire for God or is your wood wet?

Acts 2:1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

2  And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

3  And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

4  And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Not only were they on fire for God and filled with the Holy Ghost, they began to speak as the Spirit of God gave them utterance. They preached.

My friend, if you say you are filled with the Spirit of God, then go out and show you are filled with the Holy Ghost. If you are born-again, saved in Christ Jesus, let the world know.

Matthew 5:14  Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. 15  Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. 16  Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Remember the promise: Acts 1:8  But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

The choice is still yours,
