Morning Devotion: Acts 2

Acts 2:5  ¶And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.

6  Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.

7  And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans?

Verse 11…we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.

Acts 2:12  And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this?

13  Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine.

14  ¶But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:

15  For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.

16  But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;

We have an amazing passage of scripture before us. All the people at the feast heard the Holy Ghost filled believers witnessing in their own tongue or language. They asked what meaneth this or what does all this mean?

I am amazed at the response of those who knew not the Lord. They marvelled, and were amazed and even thought the disciples were drunk. Let me remind you, the lost world will never understand the things of God apart from the drawing of the Lord and the understanding of the Lord.

Men may try to emulate the things of God and even portray themselves as goldy, but they will never really understand.

1 Corinthians 2:9  But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

10  But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

11  For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

12  Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

13  Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

14  But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

15  But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.

16  For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

The believer, who is that Holy Spirit filled witness, will receive the same response from the lost world as the disciples did on that first day of power.

The believer has the unction from the Holy One. That unction is a simple understanding of God and the word of God. Dear believer, do you realize, the bible is the only book ever written that when you read it the Holy Ghost is there with you.

John 2:20  ¶But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.

21  I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.

22  Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.

23  Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.

24  Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.

25  And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.

John 16:13  Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

I am convinced, if a believer will read the bible everyday, God will give the reader what they need for each day, each moment and help them in their journey through life until He returns to take them home. With God’s word, as an anchor life becomes much more enjoyable. All you have to do is read what God has in His word.

My friend, do you want to know the truth, the truth is in Jesus.

John 14:6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life:…
