Morning Devotion: Read Acts 2

Acts 2:14  But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:

15  For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.

16  But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;

17  And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

18  And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:

19  And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:

20  The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:

21  And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

We are in the last days, in fact, we are in the last of the last days. The last days began when Jesus ascended into heaven. The church age had begun with the empowerment of the Holy Ghost and with it the age of grace.

You are living in the age of Grace, the church age. It was spoken by the prophet Joel. Peter refers to Joel 2:28-32.

Not only are we in the last of the last days we are in the last of the last portion of Joel’s prophecy. The spirit has been poured out upon all flesh, the sons and daughters have seen the visions and dreamed the dreams and the prophets have prophesized.

According to I Corinthians the prophecies have ended and the word of God is complete and we have all we need to know about these last days.

1 Corinthians 13:8  Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

9  For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.

10  But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

11  When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

12  For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

13  And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

Verse 10 tells us that the part which was prophecy and dreams and visions, which were used to confirm the word of God, are now done away for we have the completed PERFECT word of God.

Acts 2:10  But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

The prophecies and dreams and visions are completed but the rest is yet to come.

Acts 2:19  And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:

20  The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:

21  And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

The glorious thing is this, as we read verse 20 we see God still holds the offer of salvation even in the midst of turmoil.

Romans 10:13  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

My friend, do you know you are in the last of the last days? Are you saved? If you are saved, are you sharing the word of God?

Acts 1:8  But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

We, as believers should be witnessing, we should be telling, that is the reason for Acts 1:8 and being empowered.

The choice is still yours,
