Morning Devotion: Read
Philippians 4:2 I beseech Euodias, and beseech Syntyche, that they be of the same mind in the Lord. 3 And I intreat thee also, true yokefellow, help those women which laboured with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and with other my fellowlabourers, whose names are in the book of life. 4 Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. 5 Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. 6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Not everything in the church is peaches and cream. In verses two and three, we see two ladies “Euodias and Syntyche at odds with one another. They laboured in the gospel or helped in the church but could not get along with each other.
These ladies had their names written in the book of life and were christians. Yet, they had trouble getting along with each other. Paul admonishes them for their dissension.
Paul then gives them the remedy to help them reconcile.
He says rejoice in the Lord. Life is much better when one rejoices in the Lord rather than focusing the supposed fault of others.
Let you moderation be known to others. In other words be a good testimony to others. No one should be fighting.
Be a prayer warrior, let your request go the God, and be thankful while praying for others. Do you pray for your enemies? (It is very difficult to be angry with someone you diligently pray for.)
Let God’s peace rule your hearts and minds.
Paul said it very clearly when He said in Philippians 2:5 “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:”
Having the mine of Christ is a mind centred on God’s perfect will. Having the mind of Christ is never about you but always about God. It manifest itself in sacrificing of self.
Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Christian, the life we live should always be about God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
The choice is still yours,
Pastor Cook
