Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs
Proverbs 21:15 It is joy to the just to do judgment: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity. 16 The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.
Have you heard the phrase that people often use? “Don’t judge me” Or “you’re not supposed to judge.”
This is the ideology of those who embrace intolerance while claiming to be tolerant.
They get that idea from misinterpreting the bible. The book of Matthew tell us “Judge not.” However the context of that passage goes well beyond judge not.
Matthew 7:1 Judge not, that ye be not judged. 2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. 3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? 4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? 5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye. 6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.
The context speaks of judging others while being a hypocrite. We are supposed to make judgment, it helps us and protects us from sin and dangers and false ideologies.
Proverbs 21:15 It is joy to the just to do judgment: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity. 16 The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.
To the person who judges according to the bible, they find joy because it warns them of sin , and dangers and false teachings bringing safety and protection and relief.
Yes, judge everything, but judge everything according to the word of God. Compare what you see and hear with the word of God. If it does not line up with God’s word, avoid it, forgot it, let it pass by, don’t engage in it and most certainly do not believe it.
The man or woman that does not judge and embraces whatever comes down the line whether by philosophies or societal acceptance or spiritual influences contrary to God’s word, is the man that wanders out of the way of understanding and works iniquity. That man or that woman ends up in the wrong congregation and eventually finds destruction.
The first judgment we need to see and experience in the judgment of Christ and our sin.
Jesus died for our sins paying the penalty thereby giving us to opportunity to be saved. If we would all judge our own sinfulness in light of God’s word we would see our need to be saved for the end judgment is of God.
The choice is still yours,
