Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs - Choosing You Path

Proverbs 4:14  Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men. 15  Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away. 16  For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall. 17  For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence. 18  But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day. 19  The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.

Proverbs 4:7  Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

Proverbs 4:12  When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.

The wisdom of the father is the principle thing if you keep it the principle thing.  Drop the principle part of wisdom and you are left with a lesser value, lesser instruction and lesser direction.

The wisdom of the father instructs us from and away from the path of the wicked and the evil.

STOP! Ask yourself, what is the path of the wicked and what is the evil path?

“Evil in principle or practice; deviating from the divine law; addicted to vice; sinful; immoral. This is a word of comprehensive signification, extending to every thing that is contrary to the moral law, and both to persons and actions. We say, a wicked man, a wicked deed, wicked ways, wicked lives, a wicked heart, wicked designs, wicked works.

The wicked in Scripture, persons who live in sin; transgressors of the divine law; all who are unreconciled to God, unsanctified or impenitent.” (Websters dictionary 1828)

So, we see that the wicked path and the evil path is a sinful path; the sinful path is a path deviating from the word of God.  They both are contrary to the God and His will. Whereas the good path is a shining path shining to a more and perfect day.

What path are you on?

We also know that all, at one point, have been on the wicked and evil path. (We were all born into that wicked and evil path.) I say all men, because,  at one point some have been saved and as a result have chosen a new path and a new way.

Romans 3:23  For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Romans 5:12  Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

In Christ and His salvation we become a new man or woman leaving the old paths and the old ways.

Ephesians 2:13  But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. 14  For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; 15  Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

Once salvation happens, old things are passed away and all things become new. The believer then travels a new shining and living way.

2Corinthians 5:17  Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

In the new and living way, the way without wickedness and evil, we can enter into wonderful relationship with Jesus, a way which is the good path, the path of wisdom from the Father.

Hebrews 10:19  Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, 20  By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;

Hebrews 4:16  Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Let’s compare: Proverbs 4:14  Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men. 15  Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away. 16  For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall. 17  For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence. 18  But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day. 19  The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.

The shining lighted path or the path of darkness, the comparison is there for all to see. The father’s godly wisdom allows you to see the truth and choose.
