Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs

Proverbs 14:29  He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly. 30  A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones.

Proverbs 14:33  Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding: but that which is in the midst of fools is made known. 34  Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.

It all comes down to the wisdom of the heart and its relationship with God.

Proverbs 2:6  For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

Proverbs 3:19  The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens.

Proverbs 9:10  The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

Proverbs 15:33  The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility.

A sound heart is a heart that is settled and established on solid footing. The sound heart rests in godly wisdom.

It is not a heart of turbulence nor a heart of uneasiness but one that is convinced and secure in the Lord. A sound heart is the life of the flesh.

A sound heart begins with salvation.

Romans 10:10  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

The heart continues to grow in godly wisdom as the individual grows in the Lord.

Psalm 7:9  Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end; but establish the just: for the righteous God trieth the hearts and reins.

Psalm 112:8  His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, until he see his desire upon his enemies.

An established and sound heart is one that rusts in the Lord when going through trials and testing.

A sound heart lives by faith in the Lord. It trusts in the Lord for all things at all times.

Psalm 13:5  But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.

Psalm 28:7  The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.

Psalm 33:21  For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name.

Psalm 62:8  Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.

The righteous, sound, and established heart is one that is not soon shaken. However, the foolish heart is one that can be wrathful, quick to folly and is widely know to all but to the one whose heart is not.

A nation of righteous people is exalted.

It all starts with one, that one is you. Is your heart a foolish heart not trusting in the Lord of is your heart a sound, established heard, trusting God in all things.

Proverbs 3:5  Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6  In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. 7  Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. 8  It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.

The choice is still yours,

Pastor Cook
