Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs

Proverbs 25:26  A righteous man falling down before the wicked is as a troubled fountain, and a corrupt spring.

A troubled fountain is one that is corrupted by dirty water, polluted water or something that would make it bitter maybe even deadly to drink from. To the weary traveler such a fountain is disappointing and detestable when the expectation of drinking from a good clean and clear source is found to be corrupt.

Such is the righteous man who has given into sin and has fallen before or to the whims of the wicked. Such a man has allowed himself to be corrupted and thus becomes like the spring that should have been filled with sweet water only to find pollution.

Proverbs 4:23  Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. (Read all of Proverbs chapter 4.)

It is so sad when you know of someone who had a great testimony of salvation and walked with the Lord and find that they have fallen and turned away from the only one who can help them.

Every righteous person, meaning the born again bible believer, must protect themselves against corruption, against falling into something that would ruin their walk with the Lord.

How does one do that; how does one keep themselves from evil?

Philippians 4:4  Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. 5  Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. 6  Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7  And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 8  Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. 9  Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

My dear Christian friend, keep yourselves pure in Christ Jesus and the lovely word of God, the King James Bible.

Give yourselves to prayer, consistent and constant prayer.

Proverbs 25:26  A righteous man falling down before the wicked is as a troubled fountain, and a corrupt spring.

The choice is still yours,

Pastor Cook
