Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs
Proverbs 25:16 Hast thou found honey? eat so much as is sufficient for thee, lest thou be filled therewith, and vomit it.
Proverbs 25:27 It is not good to eat much honey: so for men to search their own glory is not glory.
Prosperity can become a curse to those who are unfettered in their chase of it.
Jeremiah 22:21 I spake unto thee in thy prosperity; but thou saidst, I will not hear. This hath been thy manner from thy youth, that thou obeyedst not my voice. 22 The wind shall eat up all thy pastors, and thy lovers shall go into captivity: surely then shalt thou be ashamed and confounded for all thy wickedness.
1Timothy 6:9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. 12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
God did not say money was the root of all evil, rather, the love of it is the root of all evil. For the love of money becomes the idol.
There are a great many people in the scriptures who have prospered and loved and served God in their prosperity. They found the honey and did not consume it to the point sickness.
Proverbs 25:16 Hast thou found honey? eat so much as is sufficient for thee, lest thou be filled therewith, and vomit it.
Proverbs 25:27 It is not good to eat much honey: so for men to search their own glory is not glory.
Moderation is the key to finding honey; moderation prevents sickness.
While many seek the honey for self glorification they fail to see the glory of God who lives and rules over all. In the end, wisdom knows that no man can take it with him.
Psalm 49:12 Nevertheless man being in honour abideth not: he is like the beasts that perish.
Psalm 49:20 Man that is in honour, and understandeth not, is like the beasts that perish.
Acts 17:28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; …
There is an eternal glory that one may have, but that glory is only in Christ Jesus.
1Corinthians 1:30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: 31 That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.
2Corinthians 10:17 But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. 18 For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth.
If God choses to prosper you, give God the glory. If God choses not to prosper you, give God the glory.
The choice is still yours,
