Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs
Proverbs 17:7 Excellent speech becometh not a fool: much less do lying lips a prince.
The fool is the one who does not know God, the one who refuses to believe and submit to God. Psalm 14:1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
It does not enter into the mind of a fool to give credence to God. No matter how rich, no matter how prominent or popular or affluent one is, if they do not know God, they, according God’s word they are a fool.
They may, as verse 7 says, they may have excellent speech, but that speech, as observed by the true believer. means nothing, just the same as a prince who lies. Do you know any princes in our modern age who lie? I do.
Proverbs 17:10 A reproof entereth more into a wise man than an hundred stripes into a fool.
When reproved, that lying fool with excellent speech will not listen. The wise will listen, the fool will not even though they are reproved.
Proverbs 17:12 Let a bear robbed of her whelps meet a man, rather than a fool in his folly.
There are a lot of people in authority who are fools. These fools are more dangerous than a bear who is robbed of her young. The bear will attack and tear and destroy to protect her young. That bear operates with great and good purpose. The fool on the other hand, will attack and destroy for foolish reasons and much of those reasons are against God and the things of God. Read Psalm 14:1 again.
Proverbs 17:16 Wherefore is there a price in the hand of a fool to get wisdom, seeing he hath no heart to it?
Why would anyone pay and invest in a fool so they might have wisdom when they’re really not interested in the things of God. True wisdom is of God, a fool has no interest in God, he doesn’t even acknowledge God. Read Psalm 14:1 again.
Proverbs 17:24 Wisdom is before him that hath understanding; but the eyes of a fool are in the ends of the earth.
Job 28:28 And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.
The wise in heart allows wisdom to go before him and lead him and guide him because he understands the fear of the Lord. Compare Proverbs 17:24 with Job 28:28. Which side of the track are you on?
The eyes of the fool are always searching and wanting and desiring and never truly obtaining because real wisdom is of God. You can obtain all the gold and silver, and bitcoin, and land, and houses, and cars and all things things this world has to offer, but if you do not have God you will always be looking for something else to satisfy your soul and the search often leads to degradation. “The eyes of the fool are in the ends of the earth.”
1John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
Be satisfied with the Lord.
Psalm 63:1 O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; 2 To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary. 3 Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee. 4 Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name. 5 My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips: 6 When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.
The choice is still yours,
