Morning Devotion: Read Exodus - A Great Problem to Have
Exodus 36:1 Then wrought Bezaleel and Aholiab, and every wise hearted man, in whom the LORD put wisdom and understanding to know how to work all manner of work for the service of the sanctuary, according to all that the LORD had commanded. 2 And Moses called Bezaleel and Aholiab, and every wise hearted man, in whose heart the LORD had put wisdom, even every one whose heart stirred him up to come unto the work to do it: 3 And they received of Moses all the offering, which the children of Israel had brought for the work of the service of the sanctuary, to make it withal. And they brought yet unto him free offerings every morning. 4 And all the wise men, that wrought all the work of the sanctuary, came every man from his work which they made; 5 And they spake unto Moses, saying, The people bring much more than enough for the service of the work, which the LORD commanded to make. 6 And Moses gave commandment, and they caused it to be proclaimed throughout the camp, saying, Let neither man nor woman make any more work for the offering of the sanctuary. So the people were restrained from bringing. 7 For the stuff they had was sufficient for all the work to make it, and too much.
Exodus 35:4 And Moses spake unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, saying, This is the thing which the LORD commanded, saying, 5 Take ye from among you an offering unto the LORD: whosoever is of a willing heart, let him bring it, an offering of the LORD;
Exodus 35:29 The children of Israel brought a willing offering unto the LORD, every man and woman, whose heart made them willing to bring for all manner of work, which the LORD had commanded to be made by the hand of Moses.
A willing heart is the key to a willing servant of the LORD. An unwilling heart is difficult to deal with for they must be convinced, prodded, compelled and encouraged to simply do that which is right in the eyes of the LORD.
In our text the Lord required an offering to build the tabernacle, the place where the LORD would be in all His glory. Even though the heavens cannot contain his glory, the promised He would be there.
The LORD said in Exodus 29:43 “And there I will meet with the children of Israel, and the tabernacle shall be sanctified by my glory.”
Those who were of a willing heart brought of all that they could to the work of the LORD.
May we be reminded that they brought an offering “of” the LORD to the LORD.
Exodus 35: 5 Take ye from among you an offering unto the LORD: whosoever is of a willing heart, let him bring it, an offering of the LORD;
Simply put, what they had came from God. When Israel spoiled the Egyptians they were giving great material blessings. Now they were giving a portion of that back to the Lord.
Exodus 12:35 And the children of Israel did according to the word of Moses; and they borrowed of the Egyptians jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment: 36 And the LORD gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they lent unto them such things as they required. And they spoiled the Egyptians.
With God’s blessings, their hearts were so willing that they had to be restrained from giving for they gave more than what was needed for the work. (Oh what a blessing it would be if the churches today would be of such a state.)
Exodus 36: 5 And they spake unto Moses, saying, The people bring much more than enough for the service of the work, which the LORD commanded to make. 6 And Moses gave commandment, and they caused it to be proclaimed throughout the camp, saying, Let neither man nor woman make any more work for the offering of the sanctuary. So the people were restrained from bringing. 7 For the stuff they had was sufficient for all the work to make it, and too much.
It all comes from a willing heart. Would you have a willing heart when it comes to giving to the LORD your tithes, offering and missions giving?
God honours the willing heart.
The choice is still yours,
