Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs
Proverbs 28:21 To have respect of persons is not good: for for a piece of bread that man will transgress.
There should be a certain respect for all men and women however, this verse is referring to respect that goes beyond normal curtesy awarding it to a person of incorrect values.
James 2:1 My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons. 2 For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment; 3 And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool: 4 Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts? 5 Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him? 6 But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats? 7 Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called? 8 If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well: 9 But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.
When you have an incorrect respect of persons you become that person.
No matter how lofty men make themselves or how grand they think themselves to be, they will reveal their true nature for a piece of bread. When things get desperate people will transgress. People can be bought with a piece of bread.
We see that in Ezekiel when the prophetesses used desperation and bread to control the people and lift the wicked while destroying the righteous.
Ezekiel 13:19 And will ye pollute me among my people for handfuls of barley and for pieces of bread, to slay the souls that should not die, and to save the souls alive that should not live, by your lying to my people that hear your lies?
Can you see that happening in our world today?

I have personally seen such actions when the food is short in supply. When we provide food for teens or others and it comes down to the last hamburger or taco there is a great rush to grab it before someone else does. Such actions, on a smaller level, reveals the true inner heart.
Our Lord Jesus has no respect of persons when it comes to salvation. All men can come to Him be saved. If you desire to be saved, repent, turn from sin turning to the Saviour and He will save you.
Our Lord Jesus has no respect of persons when it comes to judgment.
Colossians 3:25 But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.
