Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs
Proverbs 29:5 A man that flattereth his neighbour spreadeth a net for his feet.
Proverbs 20:19 He that goeth about as a talebearer revealeth secrets: therefore meddle not with him that flattereth with his lips.
Proverbs 26:28 A lying tongue hateth those that are afflicted by it; and a flattering mouth worketh ruin.
Psalm 12:1 Help, LORD; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men. 2 They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak. 3 The LORD shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things: 4 Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us?
“With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us?”
The above stament is sad for there is one who is Lord over us, He not only watches but keeps record.
We need to be reminded that flatteries are often used in the demise of those who are flattered. The ear that enjoys flatteries is the ear that desires to be encouraged and bragged upon and expects or thinks they deserve such words. That my friend leaves one vulnerable to deception.
In the end times there will be a flatterer who will deceive the world and take over and demand worship. He is antichrist.
Daniel 11:31 And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate. 32 And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits. 33 And they that understand among the people shall instruct many: yet they shall fall by the sword, and by flame, by captivity, and by spoil, many days. 34 Now when they shall fall, they shall be holpen with a little help: but many shall cleave to them with flatteries. 35 And some of them of understanding shall fall, to try them, and to purge, and to make them white, even to the time of the end: because it is yet for a time appointed.
Our Lord tells us not to be deceived by those flatteries.
Matthew 24:4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. 5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. 6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. 9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. 10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. 11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
Flattery is a great part of deception. When one figures that out, they will be well aware of the flatterer.

Jesus never uses flatteries, He lets us know exactly who we are what He can do in and through us when we yield to Him for salvation. If there is any praise to be given, it must be toward the Lord for He alone is holy and righteous.
Revelation 4:11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
Beware the flatterer.
