Morning Devotion: Read Luke - Jesus heals from an issue of blood.

Luke 8:43  And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any, 44  Came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched. 45  And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me? 46  And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me. 47  And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately. 48  And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.

The gospel of Mark gives us a further glimpse into this woman’s plight and healing.

Mark 5:27  When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment. 28  For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.

She had heard about Jesus and knew He was the answer to her plight. She knew there was only one answer, one way, one person who could meet her needs and it was Jesus. Before that she spent all her living on physicians which could do nothing;  THEY WERE PHYSICIANS OF NO VALUE.

I am reminded of blind Bartimaeus who when he heard about Jesus knew Jesus was the answer to his plight as well.

Mark 10:46  And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging. 47  And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.

In both instances they knew Jesus was the answer, they knew He could meet their needs. The Lord stated an important fact with both people.

Luke 8:48  And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.

Mark 10:52  And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole.

“Thy faith hath made thee whole.” Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; faith in the living God, for Jesus is alive and in heaven, is the key. Would you have faith in God?

This entire world is sin sick and in need of the Saviour. This world has a Saviour - Luke 2:10  And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. 11  For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

Yes, my friend, Jesus was born to be your Saviour and heal you from the sin sickness which plagues the world.

Like the woman with the issue of blood and like blind Bartimaeus, would you hear and would you believe? Would it be said of you, “thy faith hath made thee whole”? Every person who believes in Christ Jesus, whether in this life or eternity, will be made whole.

The choice is still yours,

Pastor Cook
