Morning Devotion: Read Luke - The Truly Blessed

Luke 11:27  And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked. 28  But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.

After praying in a certain place and after giving instructions on prayer and after casting out devils and giving instructions on that issue, we have a woman who was certainly amazed at the words of the Lord and declares the blessedness of the person who bore the Lord and nursed the Lord. That would be Mary.

To some it would be of necessity at this point to uplift Mary and exalt Mary if indeed Mary were sinless and was the one to turn to for salvation. But, SHE IS NOT. In fact the Lord turns the attention from Mary to His word. There you have it my friend, no one is saved through Mary. Salvation and being blessed  comes by the Word of God.

If the woman was correct in what she said about Mary Jesus would have confirmed it. He would have said something like, “You are right and everyone who wants to get to me must go through Mary.” HE DID NOT SAY THAT and the woman WAS NOT CORRECT.

Mariolatry is out and the Word of God is in. Romans 10:17  So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Jesus said in John 6:63b “the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.”

The woman who lauded Mary had it wrong and Jesus corrected her. As kindly as I know how, let me say; if you are praying to Mary and worshiping Mary, you are wrong and without salvation no matter how sincere you are.

Would we understand that salvation comes through one person and one person only and His name is Jesus.

John 14:6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Acts 4:12  Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

When Jesus was on the mountain of transfiguration The disciples heard the Lord God speaking. Here is what God the Father said: “While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.” (Matthew 17:5)

You want to be blessed? listen to Jesus, the Living Word of God who gave us the written Word of God?

The choice is still yours,

Pastor Cook
