Morning Devotion: Read Luke - Making Right with Your Accuser

Luke 12:57  Yea, and why even of yourselves judge ye not what is right. 58  When thou goest with thine adversary to the magistrate, as thou art in the way, give diligence that thou mayest be delivered from him; lest he hale thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and the officer cast thee into prison. 59  I tell thee, thou shalt not depart thence, till thou hast paid the very last mite.

Christians should never be adversary to other Christians especially in the church.

You cannot worship correctly without having things right with your bother or sister in Christ.

Matthew 5:23  Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; 24  Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift. 25  Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison. 26  Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing.

The Lord is telling His disciples to maintain a good relationship with other believers.

1Corinthians 6:1  Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unjust, and not before the saints? 2  Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? 3  Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life? 4  If then ye have judgments of things pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church. 5  I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you? no, not one that shall be able to judge between his brethren? 6  But brother goeth to law with brother, and that before the unbelievers. 7  Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? why do ye not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded? 8  Nay, ye do wrong, and defraud, and that your brethren. 9  Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 10  Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. 11  And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

Notice, our text in Luke speaks of dealing with our adversary, antagonist, an enemy or a foe. There are many adversaries in this world for many are against Christ. There may be other believers in your church or even in your family that may not see things like you.

Here is a good rule to follow when it comes to adversaries and their actions toward you.

Psalm 119:165  Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.

The Lord Jesus had many adversaries, read your bible and see how He deals with them; some He cursed, some He chastised, some He taught and some He led to Himself. Every one of His adversaries were loved.
