Morning Devotion: Read Luke - Live Like You are Ready

Luke 12:35  Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning; 36  And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately. 37  Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them. 38  And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants. 39  And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through. 40  Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.

Edgar C. Whisenant wrote a book entitled “88 Reasons Why the Rapture Will Be in 1988.” His prediction failed. He then wrote a followup called “The Final Shout” changing the date to September, 1989. When that did not materialize he updated his prediction to 1993.

My friend, no man knows when that day will happen.

Mark 13:32  But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father. 33  Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.

We do know that the time of the rapture is nearer than it ever has been. We base this knowledge on the signs of the times of what is happening in the world today.

Romans 13:11  And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

The Apostle Paul wrote Romans 13:11 in 58 AD. That is nearly two thousand years ago.

The Lord Jesus gives some very important information concerning that great event called the rapture and the second coming of Christ. He tells us to have our loins girt about and to be waiting and watching. In other words keep your eyes looking toward heaven with a readiness of mind and heart.

The Lord tells us that those who are such are blessed.

Luke 12:37  Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching:

Luke 12:35  Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning; 36  And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord,…

God said it is nearer than we believed; I believe the Lord and His word. I believe it will be very, very soon. I do not know exactly when, but I do know it will be soon.

So, in light of the scriptures, I will watch and wait and be ready for my Lord’s return.

Like the goodman who watches over his home to protect from the thief breaking in so we wait and watch of the Lord who will return in the same way.

1 Thessalonians 5:2  For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.

Don’t be a scoffer; don’t be willingly ignorant.

2 Peter 3:3  Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, 4  And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. 5  For this they willingly are ignorant of,…

What about you, are you ready to meet the Lord? Are you born again?

The choice is still yours,

Pastor Cook
