Morning Devotion: Read Isaiah

Isaiah 11:1  And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: 2  And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD; 3  And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears: 4  But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked. 5  And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.

This passage is talking of none other than the Lord Jesus Christ. It is speaking of His return at the millennium after the great tribulation.

Jesus is the one born of the line of Jesse; He is the one with whom the Spirit of God rests.

When He returns, He will be the judge of the whole earth. Those who reject Him will see Him face to face. He will reward them to their face for their wickedness. They may talk big now and blaspheme now and be proud now, but one day Jesus will change all that.

He will not judge according to what He sees or hears, He will judge righteous judgment for He knows the heart of every man. The Lord looks upon the heart. He see the motives and the desires of each person.

Yes, the living word of God, Jesus Himself will judge. Jesus is the word of God.

Hebrews 4:12  For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13  Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in HIS sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

The corresponding verse to Isaiah 11 is Revelation 19.

Revelation 19:11  And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. 12  His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. 13  And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: AND HIS NAME IS CALLED THE WORD OF GOD. 14  And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. 15  And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. 16  And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

Not only does the written word of God lead guide and direct and judge, the living Word of God, Jesus, will do the same thing. He promised.

Are you ready?

The choice is still yours,

Pastor Cook
