Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs
Proverbs 21:5 The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty only to want. 6 The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death. 7 The robbery of the wicked shall destroy them; because they refuse to do judgment.
The obtaining of riches and treasures by thoughtful and diligent means lead to plenteousness. It is the obtaining of treasures and riches by lying and by vanity of the wicked that brings destruction.
Both means are through judgment, the thoughts of the diligent judge what is right, moral and good, while the wicked refuse such means and resort to lying and vanity and robbery.
We see this type of operation in politics, business, commerce and even in churches.
I know of a church who had thousands of dollars sifted from their missions fund by someone whom they seemingly trusted. The person was eventually caught and the monies restored.
Some politicians have been accused of insider trading and embezzlement and fraud while making promises they have no intention of keeping.
I once read of a person who built houses and used cheap materials while charging the customer full price for quality materials.
What about the mechanic who charges for more hours of service than what was actually used or charges extra for original parts while using aftermarket parts.
What about the lawyer who charges for more billable hours than what was actually used in a case they're representing.
The examples go on and on because the heart of man, without Christ, will continue to operate with lack of judgment.
In any of these cases the trust level disappears as the judgment or lack thereof becomes apparent.
It is the thoughtful and diligent person that God blesses with plenty.
What kind of person are you when it comes to right judgment and moral living?
Micah 6:8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?
The choice is still yours,
