Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs

Proverbs 21:4  An high look, and a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked, is sin.

Hello Mr Snooty with the high nose lifted in the air, yes, you with the proud heart. How are you doing? He would say, “Quite well, for I believe I am better than you.”

That proud look, believing you are better than another, is nothing more than one of the six things the Lord hates.

Proverbs 6:16  These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: 17  A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, 18  An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, 19  A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

Psalm 101:5  Whoso privily slandereth his neighbour, him will I cut off: him that hath an high look and a proud heart will not I suffer.

Our verse for today takes the whole idea of pride to another level when it says, “and the plowing of the wicked, is sin.”

It simply means, whatever the proud in heart does, even to the plowing of the field, which may seem very industrious, is sin. Anything the wicked person or the ungodly person, the unsaved, non-Christian, does is laced with sin.

Isaiah 64:6  But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

I am so glad the Lord Jesus Christ paid for my sins on the cross of Calvary.

Isaiah 53:6  All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

Proverbs 21:4  An high look, and a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked, is sin.

The high look is an outward expression of what is genuinely in the heart. The Lord sees every heart.

Do you desire a change of heart? The Lord can help you with that.

Romans 10:9  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11  For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. 12  For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. 13  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

The choice is still yours,

Pastor Cook
