Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs
Proverbs 21:10 The soul of the wicked desireth evil: his neighbour findeth no favour in his eyes. 11 When the scorner is punished, the simple is made wise: and when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge. 12 The righteous man wisely considereth the house of the wicked: but God overthroweth the wicked for their wickedness.
In our text, evil is the performance of sin. The wicked desires to perform sin. The wise considers the fact that the wicked desires evil, the performance of sin, and in that consideration he knows God will eventually overthrow the wicked and their evil doings.
The wise also knows that he, being the neighbour, finds no favour in the eyes of the wicked person. In fact the wicked person will think you’re strange for not being like them in their wickedness.
1Peter 4:4 Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:
The question is asked, what is sin? Sin is anything that is contrary to God’s Holy Word and God’s Holy Will.
The question is also asked, who is wicked. The wicked are those who are not born again.
We find this precept of the wicked and the righteous was also stated in Proverbs 11.
Proverbs 11:3 The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.
Proverbs 11:5 The righteousness of the perfect shall direct his way: but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness.
Hosea 14:9 Who is wise, and he shall understand these things? prudent, and he shall know them? for the ways of the LORD are right, and the just shall walk in them: but the transgressors shall fall therein.
Can you see the comparison in these verses? The wicked are overthrown while the righteous and the wise are blessed.
Psalm 111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.
My believing friend, let God’s wisdom guide you. Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
The choice is still yours,
