Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs
Proverbs 28:10 Whoso causeth the righteous to go astray in an evil way, he shall fall himself into his own pit: but the upright shall have good things in possession.
When a person, with deliberate intention, causes a righteous person to turn from the path of righteousness is to bring upon themselves God’s wrath.
From the littlest and youngest to the oldest there are those who would see the righteous turn and fail in their relationship with God.
Matthew 18:6 But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.
It is nothing more than a dreadful, ill intentioned, malicious heart that acts in such a manner and plots or connives to make a righteous man go astray.
Connive - secretly allow (something considered immoral, illegal, wrong, or harmful) to occur. To conspire and collaborate to do something considered immoral, illegal, or harmful: they connived with bank officials to commit insider trading.
If you ever want a good book to read, read “The Holy War” written by John Bunyan. It reveals conniving, collaboration and malicious intent to change the heart and soul of man to sin.
In the bible, Balaam was guilty of this same offence when he encouraged King Balak to allow his girls to be with Israel’s boys and his boys to be with Israel’s girls.
Numbers 31:16 Behold, these caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to commit trespass against the LORD in the matter of Peor, and there was a plague among the congregation of the LORD.
Revelation 2:14 But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.
2Peter 2:12 But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption; 13 And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they that count it pleasure to riot in the day time. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you; 14 Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children: 15 Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;
My friend, there is no good outcome to this scenario for such a person.
Proverbs 28:10 Whoso causeth the righteous to go astray in an evil way, he shall fall himself into his own pit: but the upright shall have good things in possession.
The only good outcome is to the upright in heart. Don’t be persuaded by the dangling carrot of pleasure for it never results in good.
Psalm 37:3 Trust in the LORD, and do good;…
Psalm 37:27 Depart from evil, and do good; and dwell for evermore.
The choice is still yours,
